South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established in 1985 with the intention to overcome the common problems through mutual cooperation involving south asian countries i.e, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. In April 2007, Afghanistan became its 8th member on the ocassion of association's 14th summit. According to the statistics one-fifth of the world population comprises of the population of SAARC countries.
